Award Winning Windflow secures Warranty
Warranty insurance agreement signed with General Dynamics SATCOM
19 July 2013
“Windflow Technology Ltd (WTL) and General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies (GDST) have given effect to their 2012 Memorandum of Understanding by agreeing detailed terms of warranty insurance that will be available for Windflow’s UK customers.
“This is something that Windflow, as a small company, has been unable to provide until now”, said Windflow CEO Geoff Henderson. “While there is value in the turbine’s proven technical performance and IEC Certification, potential customers and their financiers may require the comfort of warranty and maintenance support being available from a third party. GDST’s backing in providing warranty insurance meets this need.”
Windflow and GDST have been working together on a Class 2A version of the proven 500 kW design. The two companies recently finished a formal design review which enables the prototype to start being built. This turbine will generate more energy on medium wind speed sites and has a 45 metre rotor (compared to the 33 metre rotor on the Class 1 turbine). GDST has the licence for Windflow’s 500 kW Class 1A and 2A designs for the Americas, Africa and US territories and bases worldwide.
On a related note, Windflow Technology was recently named as a finalist in the 2013 American Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand (AmCham) – DHL Express Success and Innovation Awards. The Christchurch based wind turbine design and manufacturing company is one of five contenders in the “Exporter of the Year to the USA $500,001 to $5m” category.
This is the 14th year that the American Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand has held these awards celebrating success and innovation for companies doing business with the USA. New Zealand Prime Minister John Key will be guest speaker at the black tie gala awards dinner in Auckland on 8th August.”
